What is it?
  • The Kindle is a software and hardware platform that allows users to read book electronically.

How can you use it?
  • There are obvious uses for the reading classroom. If a teacher was to have a class set, he/she could order books for the class to read either the same book or different books for each student.
  • In other subject areas students could use the Kindle for research since encyclopedias and other reference books can be purchased for the Kindle.

Why would you use it?
  • Students would benefit from using the Kindle by having the ability to download books with the click of a mouse. Students could take turns reading books on the Kindle or all read the same book. It might motivate students who do not like to read a traditional book.
  • Pros- The Kindle would allow instant access to thousands of books.
  • Cons- The Kindle costs over $200 each.
